How to add HTML5 and older version templates to your Blogger's blog?

adding html template

Hi guys,

We all know that today blogging is in vogue, everyone of us have passion to start a blog and earn few bucks with that blog. The key fact of earning depends mainly on your content. We all know that content is the king that matters. But we should also take care of the design of your blog which also matters. Infact it's so simple. There are thousands of free templates that are available on internet. Also there are paid(premium) templates.

There are 2 types of templates.
  • XML templates
  • HTML, CSS templates
XML templates are upgraded ones and can be easily added to your blog through the template section on your blogger's dashboard. They give elegant look and are installed on the niche blogs and websites.

On the other hand HTML templates are often referred to as classic templates. These are older version templates and are mainly used for business, promotional websites and college websites etc., .

Installing html templates on your blog gives a professional look and those websites that are related to any business and promotions can have these kind of templates which can attract people to land on their sites.

So, today we are going to see how we can install any HTML5 or older version templates on your Blogger's blog. Let's get started...

Step 1:
Go to Blogger's dashboard and click on 'template' section. There you can see options for customizing your current template and also for editing the html of your template.

Step 2:
Now scroll down and there you can find 'Revert to classic templates'. As shown in the following pic again click on 'Revert to classic templates'.

Step 3:
Now you can see the 'Edit template HTML' section where you need to delete the existing content inside the text box and just paste your html content.

Save the template, but still you not completely done with it.

Step 4:
There will be some links in the html code related to the images which you have added. So simply by pasting the code and saving it will not reflect your blog as it should be.

So, you need to change those links so that your code can catch those images and can apply for your blog. But where will be these images and how to change those links??

Well, I have an answer for that. After downloading the template you will be provided with images folder, a css folder that contains the css files and other folder with javascript files. Copy all these folders to your dropbox. Now go to your code and change the links to your dropbox's public links.

Check the preview and then save the template after confirming that all the images and styling are added to the template.

Now you are done with it and you can enjoy the older version templates on your blog.

There are some advantages with these older version templates.
  • They give professional look to your website.
  • Most of the business and promotional websites use these html templates.
  • Having homepage with html templates looks more beautiful than that of xml templates.
  • Websites with a single page that contains all the details looks very professional with html templates.
The drawback with these kind of templates is that you are not accessible for additional features such as template designer. You need to add the code for each and everything to change the design. This requires some knowledge of html and css.

So, hope this can be helpful to you guys for adding a html template.
